Victoria, BC, Canada - February 11, 2003: GeoMetrix Data Systems Inc. announced today that Training Partner, its learning management system, is SCORM compliant.
Training Partner Online has tested successfully to version 1.2 of the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM). SCORM is a collection of specifications adapted from multiple sources to provide a comprehensive suite of e-learning capabilities that enable interoperability, accessibility and reusability of Web-based learning content. "By conforming to SCORM standards, GeoMetrix provides a greater level of flexibility for clients and content vendors. Learners are allowed to choose their own paths to complete courseware," stated Brett Watters, Director of Research and Development for GeoMetrix.
GeoMetrix designed Training Partner Online as an add-on to the standard Training Partner learning management system to allow self-service and instructor access from a standard Web browser anywhere in the world. Enhancing the already comprehensive learning management system, Training Partner Online offers portal capability, multi-language access and e-commerce. Training Partner Online also provides advanced features such as online discussion forums, skills, evaluations and student self-registration. Scaling from thousands to millions of users, Training Partner Online manages the training requirements of a diverse range of businesses and applications.
"GeoMetrix is strongly committed to industry standards and on June 1, 2001 was the first Canadian vendor to receive AICC certification," said Justin Hearn, President of GeoMetrix Data Systems Inc. "Our AICC certification and SCORM compliance empowers learners to control their own learning. This self-paced learning easily utilizes custom-created or off-the-shelf content from any SCORM-compliant source."
About SCORM
SCORM applies current technology developments to a specific content model by producing recommendations for consistent implementations by the vendor community. It is built upon the work of the AICC, IMS, IEEE, ARIADNE and others to create one unified "reference model" of interrelated technical specifications and guidelines designed to meet high-level requirements for Web-based learning content. SCORM includes aspects that affect learning management systems and content authoring tool vendors, instructional designers and content developers, training providers and others.
The Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative, which first released SCORM in January 2000, currently supports the adoption of the specifications through a criteria, test suite and procedures for SCORM Version 1.2 compliance. For more information on SCORM or ADL click here
